Coming to Macon from Auburn, AL, Sarah graduated from Mercer in 2016 with a major in Holistic Child Education and a minor in Christianity. While on campus, she was involved with the Student Admissions Team, Panhellenic Recruitment, and her sorority, where she served as an executive officer. Sarah also enjoyed interning at a church in the Macon community. Excited to be back on campus, Sarah looks forward to serving students and families in the Office of Admissions.
Best Thing About Mercer: The diversity of ideas that our community cultivates. Mercer’s culture encourages each person to build on old ideas and branch out to create new ones, too.
Favorite Thing About Macon: My favorite thing about Macon is the community. This city works together to continuously improve every facet of life for all its citizens.
Jasmine grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended the University of Alabama, where she graduated with a degree in political science. While in undergrad, Jasmine was involved in Greek Life, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Dance Marathon, Student Government Association, and Student Recruitment. Being a student worker in the Career Center sparked Jasmine’s passion for higher education, and she is very excited to be a part of the Office of Admissions at Mercer!
Best Thing About Mercer: The students and faculty! Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. Whether I've been lost around campus or looking for something new to eat, there is always a smiling face ready to help.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Macon has some amazing locally owned restaurants with great cuisine. There really is something for everyone. Not to mention, the people are so friendly!
Ashlee graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN, with a degree in Sports Medicine and Exercise Science. After college, Ashlee and her husband Grant moved to Belize to serve as missionaries. While in Belize, they worked with students of all ages in the local village school. It was there that Ashlee discovered her love for helping students. Since then, Ashlee has lived in Alabama, Tennessee, and now Georgia. Happy to be in the Office of Admissions at Mercer, Ashlee is excited to help students reach their full potential!

Favorite Thing About Macon: I love that Macon takes pride in its history! Rather than tearing down its beautiful old homes and buildings, these historical structures function as homes and local businesses.
Emily grew up in Cumming, Georgia, and graduated from Mercer University in 2015 with a degree in journalism and French. During her time at Mercer, she was involved in Baptist Collegiate Ministries, the Center for Collaborative Journalism, and Mercer’s student newspaper, The Cluster. She was an intern at The Telegraph in Macon, as well as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Before joining the admissions team, she worked for a marketing company in Macon. Emily is excited to be back at Mercer helping students discover why Mercer is one of the best places on earth!
Best Thing About Mercer: It’s so hard to choose, but the Great Books program is phenomenal! I learned so much about the world and about myself through reading some of the foundational texts of Western thought.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Having been in Macon for a few years now, I have loved seeing the city—downtown especially—grow and thrive. We are so proud of our city, and I am impressed with everyone’s dedication to revitalizing this historic town.
Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, James earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music from Mercer’s Townsend School of Music in 2015. During his time at Mercer, James was involved with Bear Force, Reformed University Fellowship, Student Government Association, the New Student Orientation program, and the Mercer Singers. He is excited to be back on campus in the Office of Admissions!
Best Thing About Mercer: The number of opportunities students have to grow in academics, leadership, and service is unparalleled.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Macon is a place that really has something for everybody. Parks, music, night life, food, etc. Whatever you’re looking for, Macon’s got it!
Senior Admissions Counselor
Elsie was born and raised here in Macon, Georgia, also known as the Song and Soul of the South! She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art from Valdosta State University in 2011, where she worked in the Housing and Residence Life Office and was a proud member of the National Residence Hall Honorary. Throughout her years working with prospective students and their families, Elsie developed a passion for higher education, and after graduation, began working in admissions. Elsie is incredibly happy and excited to now be a part of Bear Territory as an Admissions Counselor for Mercer University!
Best Thing About Mercer: Every person, whether a member of the student body, faculty, or staff, walks around campus with a big smile on his or her face. It’s so wonderful to constantly be greeted by a happy, smiling face and a warm welcome!
Favorite Thing About Macon: Since Macon is right in the center of the state, it’s easy to take a day trip to a place that suits you! You can have fun in the sun at one of Georgia’s beaches, enjoy nature while hiking the beautiful trails of Providence Canyon, or even get in some great exercise with wonderful people playing one of the many disc golf courses in Atlanta.
Michael is from Moultrie, Georgia, and she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education as well as a Master’s Degree in Workforce Education from the University of Georgia. During her time as a graduate student at UGA, Michael enjoyed being a teaching assistant. After graduation, she taught high school for three years and is now excited to bring her love for shaping students’ lives to the Mercer family.
Best Thing About Mercer: The drive that students have to make a difference in the community, as well as the world, is so encouraging.
Favorite Thing About Macon: The college and community social events! Whether it is a Mercer football game or an annual festival, there is always an exciting event to attend.

Jena is from Waynesboro, Georgia, the Bird Dog Capital of the World! She completed her undergraduate degree in 2011 from Mercer's College of Liberal Arts, double majoring in communication studies and women's & gender studies. While a student at Mercer, Jena was involved on campus as an executive officer in her sorority and as a member of Panhellenic Council. She was also a member of the Bear Force team, which gave her the opportunity to serve as a Graduate Assistant at the University Center while completing her master's degree.
Best Thing About Mercer: Mercer's Greek life is unparalleled. You get the opportunity to meet and interact with many of your fellow Mercerians as well as take on leadership roles and volunteer with different organizations.
Favorite Thing About Macon: The music! Macon hosts numerous phenomenal music events throughout the year, such as Second Sunday, Weaver's Weekend, and Bragg Jam, to name a few.

Ashley grew up in Waycross, GA, and attended a few different undergraduate institutions before finding her right fit and graduating from the University of South Florida. Ashley previously worked as a corporate recruiter and has seen firsthand the influence career counselors and advisors have on students’ lives. Now in higher education, she has found her passion for working with college students and is excited to be a part of the Mercer team. Outside of work, Ashley and her husband enjoy travelling, being outdoors, and entertaining friends and family.
Best Thing About Mercer: Everyone is genuinely inviting and accommodating! Plus, Mercer’s campus is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Macon’s culture and music history are one-of-a-kind!
Assistant Director of Admissions and Athletic Recruitment
Originally from Moultrie, Georgia, Alex graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. At VSU, Alex served as a graduate assistant in the Office of Housing and Residence Life, helping students and families navigate housing policies and contracts. In his free time, Alex enjoys traveling to historical sites and watching his favorite sports teams.
Best Thing About Mercer: The level of commitment that students, faculty, and staff show for community service is tremendous.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Macon has managed to draw tons of new businesses, restaurants, and attractions but still maintain its rich history and preserve local historical sites.

A 2014 graduate of Mercer's College of Liberal Arts, Heather has loved Mercer since her first campus visit. She was captivated by her studies in Christianity and immersed in campus life. As a student, Heather was involved in Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Reformed University Fellowship, Residence Life, Mercer Service Scholars, and the Student Admissions Team. Her time in the Admissions office as a student staff member led her to pursue a position there after graduation and allowed her to stay at her favorite place in the world. Heather loves coffee (at any time of day), baking, porch swings, and clouds. A proud Mercer Bear, Heather couldn't think of a better place to be!
Best Thing About Mercer: The professors at Mercer inspire and encourage students to do big things.
Favorite Thing About Macon: I love to sit on Coleman Hill and look out over the city.

Deidra was raised in Warner Robins, Georgia, and graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in history. During her time at VSU, she worked as a student assistant with the Alumni Association and Housing and Residence Life. Her various campus jobs combined with her desire to help others succeed sparked an interest in higher education. Deidra is excited to be a member of the Mercer Admissions team!

Favorite Thing About Macon: My favorite thing is eating at the Rookery in downtown Macon. I cannot resist a good burger!

Stamps Leadership Scholars Program Coordinator
Stephen graduated from Reinhardt University with a degree in interdisciplinary studies, focusing on history, religion, and English. At Reinhardt, Stephen was involved in many areas of campus life including the Student Government Association, Wesley Fellowship, and intramural sports. He also served as an intern in the Office of Admissions and the Chaplain's Office as well as the Coordinator for New Student Orientation. Stephen enjoys traveling to new places and studying Georgia and U.S. history. He is excited to be a part of the Mercer community at such an exciting time in our history! Go Bears!
Best Thing About Mercer: You become part of a community that cares for one another and its impact on the world. Whether its participating in Mercer On Mission or cheering on your fellow Bears as they dominate the court and field, you really get a sense of what it means to be a contributing member of society that cares deeply about what's going on around them.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Eat! Macon has some of the best local eateries that Georgia has to offer. Whether it's The Bear's Den, Fresh Air Bar-B-Q, or The Rookery, Macon is a mecca of great places to eat and hang out with your friends!
Director of Undergraduate Admissions
Kelly was born and raised in central Pennsylvania, where she attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and Spanish, as well as a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications. While a student, she served the university as a Highland Ambassador, held leadership positions in PRSSA and the honor’s fraternity, and she worked on campus. Kelly studied abroad in Cusco, Peru, for a summer, where she met her husband and studied the Spanish language and Andean culture. She is currently pursuing her doctoral of educational leadership with an interest in innovation and student success. Having worked on Mercer’s Atlanta campus for the Stetson School of Business and Economics since 2011, Kelly is excited to transition to Mercer’s Macon campus.
Best Thing About Mercer: Mercer University is a leader in service. Every faculty, staff, student, and alumnus is invested in serving each other and our community. You will always find a helpful person to assist you, and the opportunities for social and civic service are unmatched.
Favorite Thing About Macon: Macon has everything you want from a large city but without all the traffic. You can get anywhere you need in less than 15 minutes, and everyone is incredibly nice and helpful. Macon is truly a community where you feel as if you are a contributing to a greater good.
