Service-Learning Experience: Backpack Buddies
Mercerians serve others in a variety of ways, and this weekend you will have the opportunity to participate in a Mercer service-learning project! During check-in at Make It Mercer!, we will be collecting food items for our Backpack Buddies project.
Backpack Buddies is part of a local community initiative that provides food for over 1,200 school age children who would otherwise go hungry on weekends without access to school lunches. Every Friday, packed bags of food are delivered to 19 schools in the middle Georgia area so that children can take them home in their backpacks. At Make It Mercer!, you will have the chance to help us pack some of these bags!
If you are able, we invite you to bring a donation with you this weekend from our list of needed items. Any of the needed items are appreciated!
